Port 2 SIP is a simple service that allows you to transfer ("port") your UK mobile telephone number away from your current mobile operator to us, we'll then deliver all the calls and text messages to you via SIP (for voice calls) and HTTP (for SMS messages) for you to do whatever you like with them.
This service is intended for telecommunications experts and enthusiasts if you don't understand what SIP is but you want to port your mobile number to a VoIP service then have your VoIP provider contact us and we'll be happy to work with them to provide the service.
Your imagination is the limit, we've heard of customers using Port 2 SIP for:
Certainly, the steps are as follows:
Of course! Contact us and we'll issue you a Porting Authorisation Code (PAC) to move your number to any other UK mobile network.
Behind the scenes we have partnered with one of the four major mobile operators but we aren't allowed to use their name in our marketing material. Your number will port into their network and be delivered to our equipment via our own interconnect and then passed to you via SIP.
Impossible Telecom provide strategic, technical and commercial consultancy to some of the world’s largest and most innovative telecoms companies as well as creating niche services such as Port 2 SIP.
We understand that your mobile number is every bit as important as your name and our policy is "no number left behind". Even if a customer stopped paying their bill we'd make every effort for them to keep their number rather than return it to the original operator where it will be recycled beyond hope of return.
In the unlikely event of us ever deciding to close this service we'll give you as much notice as possible and issue you with a Porting Authorisation Code (PAC) so you can move your number to another UK mobile network.
Our "Company Will" triggers the automatic issuance of Porting Authorisation Codes (PAC) to each customer in the event of our entire executive team being wiped out in some kind of incredibly unlikely "King Ralph" scenario.
The SIP endpoint should be defined as a sip URI (including the sip: prefix), as per any standard SIP URI you can speficy the port or transport options, for example:
The SMS endpoint should be defined as an HTTP URL:
Voice traffic (SIP and RTP) will come from the following IP addresses / ranges:
